If you are clear on how bikes go together, no problem. The 20" Diamondback Impression Girl's bike (and another Diamondback boy's bike I bought) seems to be made for assembly by a knowledgable bike mechanic.
It is mostly assembled (the good news), but the part that got me was the trying to get the handlebar on. There was a plastic cap on the tube where the handlebar stem goes (my lingo here probably gives away my level of familiarity with bike parts). It took me 30 minutes to get it off. Half of that was trying to guess at how to do it without damaging anything. Once I got it off, I could see the tabs on the cap were angled upward to ease putting the cap on, but worked against getting it off. Cactus needles are like this...designed to go in but not come back out. The new bike has plenty of scratches around the top of the handlebar tube.
Oh, and did you know with bikes some things screw on opposite of normal. Like the brake pedals. I have a vague recollection things like that are to keep them from unscrewing from the direction of rotation their parts move. But, the non-instructions won't tell you that.
Oh, and the fork should face forward, not backward. I knew enough by this point to unscrew one Allen bolt and turn the handlebar around. I saw that on another bike and decided to fix this one. Oh darn! The the brake cable needed to be moved around the front of the handlebar stem. Uh oh. I broke some piece I don't know the name of while trying to unhook the brake cable and move it. So, now I have to find that part somewhere and replace it.
Is it a quality bike? I'll be able to judge that when I fix the broken part on the handle brake and my daughter can ride it. Seems like it's worth twice the price of bikes I could have gotten at Targ-Mart. And the quality may be equal the to the $220 going rate for kids bikes at local bike shops. So is the $50 savings worth the setup aggrevation? If you're a bike novice or think you would need instuctions, you may need to look elsewhere.
