Diamondback Trace Dual Sport Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels) Review

Diamondback Trace Dual Sport Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels)

This bike is exactly as described; the perfect all purpose bike. It's fast rolling and light like a road bike, but also has what it takes to do some pretty challenging trails. I was very pleasantly surprised. The 40c tires are the perfect size. Love the front suspension. Silky smooth. The brakes are excellent. The gears are well sorted with some good low gears for the hills. I own a road bike and a 49er mountain. My road bike is great on the road and paved bike paths but wears on me on a gravel trail. My 49er is fun on the more challenging trails, but is really a slow rolling grind on the road. My Diamondback does it all. It's a joy to ride.

Double wall 700c wheels, Tektro linear pull brakes, 8 speed drive train with 8 speed Rapidfire shifters, and a SR Suntour NVX 75mm fork - wait a second, is this a hybrid bike or a mountain bike?Actually it's a little bit of both!Just don't get too hung up on trying to figure out if it is a mountain bike capable of anything the road can throw at it or is it a road rig that is beefy enough for the trails. This dual sport machine has you covered regardless of the terrain.

Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer Review

Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Price$$Five Stars
I've been wanting to buy an elliptical for months now. Did my research on consumer reports, shopped around. I must admit that I was a little nervous about buying such a large purchase through Amazon, but I'm glad I did. I noticed the price dropped to $1699 from $1899 and that was the motivation I needed to pull the trigger.
Shipping Five Stars
I elected to do the free shipping option. My impression was that this unit would not ship for 3-5 days and that it would probably take another 5 days to get to me, so I did not expect this unit to arrive for 1.5 to 2 weeks. In reality, I ordered this product on a Friday night and the product was in my possession on the next Wednesday afternoon. 3 business days is awesome in my book, especially when it's free. I live in the southeast, so not sure if your results would be the same if you live elsewhere. If anything, this was too quick, because the expected time frame was going to be that Friday and it came 2 days earlier. If you are trying to take off work to be available for the shipment, this could be a problem. The elliptical came in a crate and is too much to handle for one person. You need at least 2 strong guys to help you move this unit into your home. I was able to slide it into my garage and uncrate from there. Even disassembled, the base part of this unit is really heavy. I had to get a friend to help me move it up one level of stairs.
Assembly 4 Stars
As hinted above, this unit is not fully assembled. I would like to think I am handy, but this assembly could be a little tricky. Here are the things that tripped me up.
First, there is a rear foor stablizer bar that needs to be installed. The instructions give the wrong screw size, but the screw pack clearly labels the screws to be used for what assembly. For this step, make sure you use the longer screws as labeled in the screw pack, not the size given in the instruction manual.
Next, there is a control mast that slides into the base. One thing the instuctions failed to mention (or I failed to pick up on) is a small grey flexible rubber flush piece designed to cover the circular gap between the base plastic housing and the control mast. DO NOT FORGET to slide this piece on before you secure the control mast to the base.
Lastly, becareful when you install the handle swing poles. It's easy to get these inverted. They are labeled "L" and "R", but this was very hard to find and I ended up putting the wrong one on first. Find the "L" "R" label before you start screwing them down.
Overall Operation 5 stars
This unit runs really smooth and quiet. I was concerned about buying an elliptical before I had the chance to try it out, so I only relied on the write up in consumer reports. I have not had a chance to try the provided heart rate attachment, but the fixed handle grips do have a built in heart rate sensor, and that seems to operate correctly. It has several programs for all levels of elliptical users.
In summary, I am very pleased with this elliptical and glad I bought it from Amazon. Make sure you have help when you move it and becareful when you assemble it. The footprint for this machine was a little larger than I expected, make sure you have enough space for it.

Diamondback Clarity 1 Women's Performance Hybrid Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels) Review

Diamondback Clarity 1 Women's Performance Hybrid Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this bike as an upgrade from my basic mountain bike that was purchased at Target. This rides so much smoother than my old mountain bike over paved surfaces. The only complaint I have about the bike is the Presta valves. I had never owned a bike with this type of valve and had to purchase one at a bike shop to inflate the tires. For the price, it would have been nice to have the adaptor included since it is relatively inexpensive. My husband pretty much put this together without reading the instructions (typical male) but he is pretty handy. This is the first bike I have purchased online without taking a bike for a test drive and I was a little hesitant, but so far I am very happy with my purchase.

Diamondback Edgewood LX Men's Sport Hybrid Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels), Burgundy Review

Diamondback Edgewood LX Men's Sport Hybrid Bike (2011 Model, 700c Wheels), Burgundy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great entry-level, hybrid bike for the casual rider.
SIZING - Picked up the sz SMALL in BLUE and it's perfect for me, a 5'7" rider. I think the small may even accommodate a 5'8" rider. (Went to an actual B&M store to try out the medium and it was actually too big for me.)
INSTALLATION - The bike was fairly easy to install when I received it. You will need to mount the handlebars, pedals (remember to use grease before mounting), and tires(be sure to mount it in the correct direction). If you are going to install it yourself you will also need to make some minor adjustments on the brakes and derailers (or you can just take it to your local bike shop for a tune-up). I learned how to make those adjustments watching youtube videos on bike maintenance- so if you want to save some money, it is relatively easy.
DURABILITY - I've taken it on light trails, through streams, potholes, rough streets, dirt roads, and put on 80 miles on just the first week! It can also be converted for light to medium mountain biking with a pedal and tire upgrade. I'm looking to upgrade the tires soon to Schwalbe Land Cruiser tires, which come standard on GT's cyclocross bikes.
CONS - Eventually, I ended up changing the pedals for mountain biking pedals with toe clips because these pedals have NO traction when wet (but they are perfect for exercise, city, or paved cycling). I realized how cheap the rear derailers were when I learned how to adjust them, it is a pain and you can never get it perfect (but passable).
All in all, this is an excellent bike that will provide both comfort, flexibility, and performance at a reasonable price.

Diamondback Joker BMX Bike (2011 Model, 20-Inch Wheels) Review

Diamondback Joker BMX Bike (2011 Model, 20-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

I am a teenager who got this bike last year for Christmas(the 2010 model) and its great. I use it for riding trails, and even went to the local race track and it performed faantastic there as well. I orogionally wanted more of a bike to ride on dirt, so i customized this Diamondback Joker into a dirt racer. I took off the cable detangler, as well as the front brake, put on pads, and it was good to go. I have jumped 5-6 feet jumps constantly and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I dont know what pedals the 2011 model has, but the 2010 model i have had metal pedals, which would tear my shins when I wreck, so i got plastic ones. Best bike I ever had. Highly recomended for the price.

As far as Full Suspension bikes go, you won't find a better bike for the price. All of the adjustments on the front and rear shocks make this bike incredible for all types of terrain and rider preferences. The only reason I would give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I have had trouble with the derailleurs...Great components though, just not made for this bike. IE the front derailleur adjustments cannot be reached without special tools because of where the frame sits...kind of frustrating but obviously not a deal breaker.

Diamondback Maravista Men's Sport Hybrid (2011 Model, 700c Wheels) Review

Diamondback Maravista Men's Sport Hybrid (2011 Model, 700c Wheels)

I recently got back into cycling - mainly for fitness, 10-20 miles a day - and decided that it was probably time to retire the second hand mt. bike I had bought on craigslist three years ago for $40 and upgrade to my very first non "department store bike" or "Bike Shaped Object."
After much research and soul searching I opted to go with the Diamondback Maravista. Absolutely love this bike and could not be happier with my purchase. The ride is smooth, and very comfortable. My only complaints are the following:
- I don't care for the pedals. They are cruiser pedals with no grip. If you plan on riding this bike at slow speeds...possibly barefoot...this won't be an issue for you.
- Only one set of screws for mounting water bottles and other accessories.
Beyond those two minor criticisms, this is a great bike. The frame is relatively light, and the components are very solid (they are actually better than some of the other major brand hybrids I looked at within the same price point). Plus, this bike is absolutely gorgeous in gloss black.
Ultimately this bicycle is absolutely amazing, and I am looking forward to putting many, many, many miles on it in the coming years.
